What is an Online Pregnancy Test?
There are sites all over the internet offering “online pregnancy test” and “live pregnancy test.” Are they somehow able to get a urine sample from you and give you immediate results, online? That would be great, but, no. What these tests do is some basic math, but they depend on you to have been keeping track of your cycle, which many women do not.

All pregnancies are different, but here are some common symptoms many women will have during the first trimester, or first twelve weeks of pregnancy. Simple comfort measures are included with each of the... - Am I Pregnant? Early Signs of Pregnancy

Online Pregnancy Test Questions
- What they do is ask you a series of questions, and most are almost exactly the same
- What’s the average length of your cycle? (many women won’t know this)
- What’s the first day of your last period? (many won’t know this, either)
- What’s the day you think you may have conceived? (must I repeat myself?)
- Have you had sex on other occasions also?
- Do you have general pregnancy symptoms (sore breasts, frequent urination, nausea, etc.)?
- Are you under excessive stress, too much exercise, or underweight?
- Are you on birth control and if so, what kind?
- What is your age?
These are the same questions you OB/GYN would ask, but you might not be able to answer them in her office, either. If you aren’t a woman who has kept track of her cycle for fertility or other reasons, you may have a tough time getting an answer until you pee on the stick, possibly a few times.
How Accurate Are Online Tests?
The online test results can, if you have the correct information, provide you with the odds that you are actually pregnant based on the normal process of ovulation. In reality, there is only a four-day window around two weeks into the menstrual cycle when most women are able to conceive.
How Online Pregnancy Tests Work
By taking the information you have provided about your menstrual cycle, the software can calculate how closely your sexual experience coincided with the predicted window of ovulation. You may also be provided with links to more information about ovulation, conception, unprotected sex, home pregnancy tests, and abortion options.
The test may also take into account your chosen birth control method and its effectiveness. If your partner has had a vasectomy, the test will calculate your chance of pregnancy as extremely low. On the other hand, if you are having unprotected sex during the period of ovulation, chances are significantly increased that you may be pregnant.
No one can tell you whether you are pregnant without a blood or urine pregnancy test; but, the online pregnancy test results can tell you whether your intercourse may have coincided with the time when you would have expected to ovulate. Again, this depends on the information you have available. If you can’t remember, you can’t get an accurate result.
Visit Epigee Women’s Health or PregnancyInfo.net. Or, do an Internet search on ‘online pregnancy test’.
If you get a positive result online, follow up with a home pregnancy test. Remember, if you wait at least a week after a missed period, you will get a more accurate test.
